Sarah is an NZAC fully registered and experienced counsellor with diverse training. She is passionate about supporting people’s personal growth and wellbeing and helping them to fulfil their aspirations.
Sarah is widely experienced in supporting people through mental health issues, addictions, traumatic histories or significantly problematic circumstances.
Sarah is strongly motivated by her commitment to healthy people and healthy communities. Sarah is someone who helps opens the window to hope – with her strong belief in the potential, uniqueness and specialness of every person no matter what they have done, where they have been or what they are going through.
Sarah’s professional training and experience combined with the richness of her personal life experience means that she has a wealth of practical and tangible wisdom for supporting clients.
Sarah works collaboratively with other health professionals if appropriate for clients to provide the best service and support possible.
Experience and Qualifications
Sarah’s experience has involved working with a wide diversity of people and cultures here in New Zealand and internationally.
She is experienced with working with individuals, couples and families.
Her work has spanned some of the following areas:

Supporting adults and adolescents to manage and move beyond mental health and addictions issues

Working with perpetrators and victims of domestic violence through family court and corrections

Use of Wilderness and Adventure therapy to support the rehabilitation of adolescents whom have offended

Providing Holistic Life Coaching to individuals

Co-facilitating Women’s Wellbeing Retreats

Providing mediation and relationship counselling through the family court and privately

Providing individual and family counselling in a school setting as well as group development work

Providing Clinical supervision & training to other professionals working in the youth sector
Sarah has been a full registered counsellor with the NZ Association of Counsellors for the last 8 years.
Her qualifications include a Postgraduate diploma in Mental Health & Addiction Studies endorsed in Family Therapy with honours.
She has also trained in the psychotherapy modality of Transactional Analysis.
Over her counselling career she has trained in many other counselling modalities and is passionate and committed to her on-going professional development. (See Modalities for more info).
Sarah also has a Diploma of teaching and has studied a Bachelor of Education. Prior to her counselling she worked as a teacher in mainstream education as well as Special and Alternative Education in NZ and overseas.
